Two Espodec Starlets Players Earn Call Up To County Teams for KIYSA Games

Two girls playing for Langas-based Espodec Starlets have received a call-up to represent their home counties in the upcoming Kenya Youth Inter-County Sports Association (KYISA) games.

The two – Brenda Jerotich and Mercy Kyalo were selected during the talent search that counties conducted to select teams for the youth games.

Brenda was selected to be in the Elgeyo Marakwet Couty Football team while Mercy is on the Machakos County Football team.

According to Espodec Starlets coach Maurice Kamau, this is the second year running for the two to participate in the inter-county games for the youth.

Mercy is a 20-year-old who plays in the position of attacking midfielder.

On the other hand, Brenda is aged 19 and plays as a forward in the Espodec Starlets team that is in the North Rift Football Kenya Federation (FKF)  Regional league.

The 2023 edition of the Kenya Youth Inter-Counties Sports Association Games is scheduled to run from April 23 to 30, 2023, in Tharaka Nithi County.

Counties will be battling in different games that also include volleyball.

Uasin Gishu County picked two volleyball teams – one each for ladies and men – selected during the recently concluded Governors’ Cup Volleyball tournament that started at the ward level.

However, Trans Nzoia and Elgeyo Marakwet counties conducted grassroots recruitment that culminated in them picking their teams.

Trans Nzoia picked two teams – for volleyball and football while Elgeyo Marakwet picked a football team.

This will be the eighth edition of the KIYSA games.
