ESPODEC Starlets Crowned FKF Upper Rift Women’s Regional League Champions, Promoted to Division One

ESPODEC Starlets are the new Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Upper Rift Women’s Regional League champions.

The Eldoret-based side secured the title over the weekend with a commanding 2-0 win against Highland Royals.

With the title in the bag, ESPODEC Starlets earns an automatic promotion to the FKF Women’s Division One League alongside Santa Ladies who finished second.

The team based in Langas has narrowly missed out on promotion for the last two seasons.

Their dream has finally come true, lifting the trophy without testing defeat.

This was the toughest season compared to the previous seasons. Teams were really tough but the girls had set a target of Division One all by themselves,” head coach Maurice Kamau told Uasin Gishu News.

Not only did they achieve it but we also finished the league unbeaten. This is a huge milestone,” he added.

What next for ESPODEC Starlets after promotion?

Focus has now quickly shifted to preparations for the new season in a different league which coach Kamau admits it’s a tougher one.

Part of the preparations that ESPODEC Starlets are focusing on is engaging stakeholders who would be willing to come in and offer them financial support.

Now we go back to the drawing board and prepare ourselves for Division One which is not a walk in the park. Both financially and football wise,” ESPODEC Starlets clash said.
