The Athletics Kenya (AK) on Thursday named a formidable marathon team that will represent Kenya at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Two-time Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge and former world record holder Brigid Kosgei are part of the star-studded marathon team to the Games.
In a statement, AK further included reigning Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir and Hellen Obiri part of the team that will start training immediately to prepare for the Games.
The women’s team is also comprised of Ruth Chepngetich, Rosemary Wanjiru and Sharon Lokedi, while the men’s counterpart will include Vincent Kipkemboi Ngetich, Timothy Kiplagat, Benson Kipruto and Alexander Mutiso.
The team has since been handed over to the National Olympics Committee of Kenya and will be coached by Amos Korir, Nicholas Koech and Patrick Sang.
Former marathoner Mary Keitany was also named as the marathon team coordinator.
