The prolonged conflict between two of the major Matatu SACCOS in Eldoret City was bad been successfully resolved.
This follows a crucial meeting convened by Uasin Gishu County Government leadership.
Led by the Roads Executive Dr Abraham Serem, the engagement brought together representatives from the Burnt Forest Travellers Sacco and 2Ways Sacco whose Matatus operate along the Eldoret-Burnt forest route.

The engagement was meant to address the ongoing tensions between the two Saccos.
According to Dr Serem, the discussions resulted in an agreement and resolution for peaceful coexistence between members of the two SACCOS which is necessary for enhanced service delivery to the commuters.
“The said differences had posed security issues between the two SACCOS and the general public. It is against this backdrop that a meeting was convened and attended by officials from the two SACCOS,” the CECM said.
What did Burnt Forest Travellers and 2Ways Saccos agree?
“In the spirit of coexistence and fair competition in business the dispute resolution team proposed that the two SACCOS to operate on a rotational basis, agree among themselves on operational procedures and both to withdraw the ongoing criminal cases that are before court,” he explained.
Further, CECM Dr Serem underscored Governor Dr. Bii’s call for peace, healthy competition, cohesion and unity among leaders, business people and the community at large to accelerate and support this progress.
Additionally, he stressed that the county government remains committed in advancing the growth of cooperatives and SACCOS in the county.

Peter Sawe, chairman Burnt Forest Travellers Sacco and Laban Kibiwot, chairman 2Ways Sacco who led their teams agreed with the resolutions and promised to work together peaceful.
