Locals within Nandi Hills sub-county are set to get digital empowerment following the launch of the Technologia Mtaani program.
The program, which is the brainchild of Upendo FM presenter Leonard Arap Kirwa, is being implemented in partnership with Eldoret-based Nehema Institute.
According to Kirwa, the one-month initiative is designed to equip residents with vital digital skills for a brighter and self-reliant future.
It is targeting young people, students, and even the elderly. The program also aims to address the digital divide and empower participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the modern economy.
The training will include essential computer applications, online work opportunities, and digital entrepreneurship.
“We are aligning our efforts with President William Ruto’s ‘Taptengelei’ digital program, which encourages innovation and self-employment among young Kenyans,” Kirwa told Uasin Gishu News.

The initiative comes at a time when digital literacy is increasingly becoming a necessity in job creation and economic growth.
As the program was officially launched on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, Kirwa called on local leaders, institutions, and the private sector to support and partner in scaling it up.
“We urge our leaders to rally behind this effort. It is not just a training program—it’s a path to transform lives through technology,” the Upendo FM presenter said.
Classes for the initiative will be held at the Catholic Church in Nandi Hills, with a subsidised participation fee of Ksh 1,300 to ensure inclusivity and access for all.

Participants have been encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to shape their future through technology.
