Uasin Gishu businessman and politician Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop, popularly known as Buzeki, has called on Kenyans to shun slogan-driven politics and demand accountability from leaders seeking elective seats in the 2027 General Election.
Buzeki, who is said to be eyeing the Uasin Gishu governorship in the upcoming polls, said it was time voters shifted focus from political theatrics to track records and practical development plans.
In a statement, the former gubernatorial aspirant said he agreed with President William Ruto’s recent warning against empty rhetoric, noting that the same standard should apply to all aspirants.
“The President has challenged us not to be carried away by sloganeering, political theatre and empty rhetoric. That challenge must go further: every leader seeking public office must be subjected to serious accountability,” Buzeki said.
He challenged electorates to interrogate what leaders have done with the resources entrusted to them and what tangible results they can show, especially in critical sectors such as job creation, agriculture, industry, infrastructure and economic growth.
According to Buzeki, the growing culture of coinage of catchy phrases and personal attacks was watering down the quality of leadership and diverting attention from serious policy discourse.

He appeared to take direct aim at some of the popular political slogans currently doing rounds in Uasin Gishu, arguing that such phrases should not define the county’s political future.
“Things like – Simba ni moja / koti moja / kakwo emet have no place in our political Agenda. Public office is a responsibility, not a reward,” he stated.
Buzeki has in the past contested for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat and remains one of the most influential businessmen and politicians in the North Rift region.
While he is yet to officially declare his 2027 bid, his recent public engagements on governance and economic issues have been seen as an early signal of his return to the race.
