Chepsaita Cross Country: 10,000 Athletes To Participate in the Race’s Third Edition

It is all systems go for the third edition of the Great Chepsaita Cross Country.

The race, billed as the highest paying cross country, will be staged on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Chepsaita in Turbo constituency, Uasin Gishu County.

Race founder and patron Farouk Kibet inspected the course on Friday, December 4, 2025, after which he confirmed that everything was set.

What is Chepsaita Cross Country cash prize for winners?

Huge cash prizes are up for grabs with winners for the senior race walking away with Ksh 750,000 for both men and women’s race.

This is almost double the cash prize that had been set for the second edition where the winners received Ksh 300,000.

Winners in the U20 categories will walk away with Ksh 300,000 each and a free sponsorship to accompany team Kenya to the World Cross Country Championships in Florida, United States of America.

Athletics Kenya director of youth Development Barnabas Korir who is also the race director assured that they will ensure the athletes who will be sponsored by Kibet and supported.

We will support them and ensure they get their Visa in time and attached to the team Kenya list,” Korir said.

Since it’s inception, the Great Chepsaita Cross Country has been used to raise funds to support education for the needy students within Turbo constituency.

Already Ksh 21 million has been issued out to 21 schools, each school receiving Ksh 1 million for the identified students.

In this year’s edition, athletes from 41 different nationalities have confirmed participation, surpassing the minimum of five nationalities set by the World Athletics for a Gold label race.
