Winners of this year’s Great Chepsaita Cross Country will be walking away with huge cash payout.
This is after organizers and race patron Farouk Kibet announced an increase in the cash prizes.
When will Chepsaita Cross Country be held?
The third edition of the race is scheduled for December 6, in Chepsaita, Turbo constituency, Uasin Gishu County.
Kibet who on Tuesday assessed preparations for the course said it was ready for the World Athletics-approved race.

Registration for the senior races has been closed in line with the international requirements.
At least 10,000 athletes from 41 different nationalities have registered to participate in the race.
The race will feature elite category for both men and women as well as U20 category and the children of upto 5-8 years.
Chepsaita Cross Country prize money in 2025
During the second edition of the Great Chepsaita Cross Country in 2024, winners in the senior men and women received a cash prize of Ksh 300,000. However, the prize has been increased by over double.
The winner for both men and women categories will walk away with Ksh 750,000 while those who finish second will get Ksh 500,000.

Third placed athletes for the senior categories will be awarded Ksh 350,000.
There will also be cash prizes for the top 30 athletes in the senior race category.
Those who will finish 10th in men and women’s category will get Ksh 50,000 each while the 30th place will walk away with Ksh 10,000.
In the boys and girls under 20 category, the winner will get Ksh 200,000 and KSh 150,000 for the second placed while Ksh 100,000 will go to athletes who will finish third.
Top 30 athletes in both categories will also get cash prizes.
Athletes who will finish at position 30 in the U20 category will get Ksh 6,000 each.
How many students has Chepsaita Cross Country helped
Since it’s inception, the Chepsaita Cross Country race has been used to collect funds to support needed students from across Turbo constituency.

According to the race founder, this year, already 100 students have been supported through payment of Ksh 22 million to 22 schools.
Each school has received Ksh 1 million under the initiative.
“The theme for our race is ‘run for education’ which means we have hosted this event to educate needy children,” Kibet told journalists.
He also announced that he will be sponsoring two children – a boy and a girl – to the World Cross Country Championships set to he held on Florida, United States of America (USA).
