Eldoret City Marathon: Edwin Kipruto and Viola Chepngeno Crowned New Champions

Eldoret City Marathon on Sunday, April 27, 2025, crowned new champions in both men and women’s races

Edwin Kipruto won the men’s race while Viola Chepngeno bagged the women’s category.

Both winners join the millionaires club after bagging the Ksh 3.5 million prize money.

Kipruto who finished 9th in Daegu marathon earlier this year crossed the line in 2:11:21 while Chepngeno clocked 2:26:22.

The Eldoret City Marathon, now in its 6th edition, remains the highest paying race in Africa with a total prize money of Ksh 18 million.

It’s also the only marathon in Africa that all the top 20 athletes in both categories win cash prices.
