Strategies are already in place to ensure that Uasin Gishu County rakes more honours and accolades as a multi-sports production chain.
Assistant Director of Sports, Viola Korir, says the County, under the leadership of Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii EGH, has put plans that will make Uasin Gishu shine further in sports.
The official also said the Sports Council was set up to bring expertise from all sporting disciplines, to help in making policies and to grow talents in all disciplines.
Already, the County is sponsoring sports tourneys to give youth a chance to showcase their sporting abilities. Ms Korir said para sports is among the programs that the County is supporting in the entire program to better sports.
She spoke on Saturday at the end of the two-day National Paralympic Trials at Kipchoge Stadium in Eldoret.
President of Kenya National Paralympic Committee, Ronald Milare, also graced the tournament, with the federation’s chair of the Uasin Gishu branch, Joseph Ochieng, thanking the County for helping out in the organization of the event.

Robert Kiprotich speared 45.30 metres, Nathan Kemboi coming second with 43.70m in Javelin men. Nelly Jeptoo (16.10m), Ann Wacuka (14.35m while Esther Aseka 14.27m) occupied the top three positions in the women category.
Erick Sang (16.35) Samuel Mushai (16.43), Wilson Bii (16.49), and Wesley Sang took the men’s 1500m in 4.03.2. Evans Ruto (14.08.3) and Felix Kipruto (14.16.9) were second and third.
In women’s shotput, Pamela Osaro (7.40m), Fauzia Sifuna (7.20m) and Sylvia Olero (6.95m) emerged first to third.
The trials were used to select the national team for the Tunis Games in March, the World Championships in Japan in May and the Olympic Games in August, in Parìs, France.
