The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) will join the global celebration of World Football Week 2026 through a nationwide grassroots activation campaign aimed at promoting physical activity, inclusion, and healthy living among children.
The initiative, themed “Be Active – Play for Health, Play for Joy,” will run from May 21 to May 25, 2026, in partnership with FIFA, the World Health Organisation, and Kenya’s Ministry of Education.
World Football Week is a FIFA-led initiative delivered alongside the WHO under the global “Be Active” campaign, which encourages children to engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day.
FKF’s 2026 activation will focus on school-based football activities, community engagement and inclusive football sessions designed to use the game as a tool for health, education and social development.
As part of the activation week, FKF will conduct football clinics in selected primary schools across different regions of the country. The sessions will be led by FKF technical staff and coaches, with support from Harambee Stars players.
Activities planned during the clinics include football drills, fun games, interactive sessions with pupils, and educational talks centred on discipline, health and education.
FKF will also distribute football materials and selected Harambee Stars merchandise during the school visits.
How FKF will mark World Football Week
Several FKF branch structures will also support activities in various regions as part of the World Football Week celebrations.
In addition, SportPesa Premier League clubs will be encouraged to organise local “Be Active” activities during the same week through school visits, open training sessions and community outreach programmes.
The initiative is expected to extend the campaign’s reach across the country while encouraging greater participation in football at the community level.
It will conclude with a special needs inclusion activity involving children from a selected institution. The session will feature adapted football activities, interaction with FKF coaches and players, and donation of football equipment and materials.
The activation is part of broader efforts to strengthen grassroots football development while promoting healthier lifestyles among children.
