The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, announced an increase in fuel prices by the biggest margin ever witnessed in the country in recent years.
In its monthly review of the prices for April, EPRA announced that super petrol and diesel prices had increased by Ksh 28.69 and Ksh 40.30 per litre, respectively.
However, prices of kerosene remain unchanged.
The latest prices that will remain in force from April 15 to May 14, 2026, mean a litre of petrol and diesel will now retail at over Ksh 200.
“In Nairobi, Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene now retail at Ksh 206.97, Ksh 206.84 and Ksh 152.78, effective midnight for the next 30 days,” EPRA said in a statement.
The increase in prices has been attributed to the increase in the average cost of imported super petrol by41.53% and by 68.72% for diesel.

With the new prices announced by EPRA, the maximum a litre of petrol can cost in Eldoet, Kiplombe, Iten, Naiberi, and Kesses is Ksh 206.85 and Ksh 207.07 for petrol.
In Kabsabet, a litre of petrol will retail at Ksh 206.52 while pump prices for diesel will be Ksh 206.54.
A litre of petrol will cost Ksh 206.03 in Nakuru and Ksh 206.25 for diesel.
In Mombasa, petrol prices have been set at Ksh 203.69, while diesel will retail at Ksh 203.56.
Motorists in Mandera will pay the highest price for a litre of petrol at Ksh 229.15 as well as diesel at Ksh 229.02.
Kenyans are likely to feel the impact of the latest changes, with the cost of goods and services set to increase.
