59 women, youth and persons with disability (PWD) groups in Tembelio, Moiben Sub-County are the latest beneficiaries of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF).
The groups were on Tuesday issued with day-old chicks and cheques by the National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss.
Principal Secretary for State Department of Livestock Development Jonathan Mueke graced the event.

Over 5,900 chicks were issued to the groups most of whose members are smallholder farmers.
“This programme opens new doors for our farmers through better breeds, stronger markets, and reliable incomes,” PS Mueke said.
“A big thank you to Hon. Gladys Shollei, Uasin Gishu County MP and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, for the gracious welcome and for standing with our farmers,” he added.

On her part, the County Woman MP said the initiative seeks to help families grow their agribusiness and earn more from poultry farming.
During the event, the MP also disbursed women economic empowerment and value addition funds worth Ksh 1.82 million for Moiben Sub-County and Ksh 1.68 million for Ainabkoi Sub-County through NGAAF.

“In addition, we launched bursaries and scholarships worth Ksh 2.38 million for needy students in both Moiben and Ainabkoi Sub-Counties,” she noted.
The MP has been issuing empowerment cheques across the county.
In September, the deputy speaker disbursed NGAAF funds to beneficiaries across all 30 wards in Uasin Gishu County at Ziwa Technical Training Institute in Soy Sub-County.
The funds supported scholarships and bursaries for 1,000 students, women’s economic empowerment and value addition projects for 146 groups.
Additionally, she distributed posho mills to 24 groups and 36 incubators to women, youth, and PWD groups from every sub-county.
