Outgoing Uasin Gishu County Assembly Leader of Majority Josphat Lowoi has revealed how losing in the UDA nominations drastically changed his lifestyle.
Lowoi lost in his bid to get the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket to defend his seat in the upcoming general elections.
He had served as the Karuna/Meibeki Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for two terms.
During the two terms, Lowoi was also the Uasin Gishu County Assembly leader of the majority.

But after failing to clinch the UDA ticket, following a repeat nomination, the MCA opted to support the winner – James Serem, effectively bringing his reign to an end.
And with the loss came some changes to his personal life, and drastic ones for this matter.
According to the MCA, he used to host up to 200 locals almost on a daily basis for breakfast, but immediately after he failed to clinch the UDA ticket, they vanished.
“In my compound, for the last 10 years, you could find up to 200 people whom we used to take tea with, but when I lost, I stayed in my own compound for a week, alone,” Lowoi said during his last speech at the assembly on Thursday, July 14, 2022.

But with the disappearance of those that made it a habit of sharing breakfast with him came some positives – his food is nowadays sweet.
“These days, I eat concentrating on it. The other time, I used to eat with one hand, while the other is on the phone, so I couldn’t tell if the food was sweat or not,” the Karuna/Meibeki MCA said.
And as his tenure comes to an end, both as the MCA and as leader of the majority, Lowoi challenged others that will not be defending their seats to continue working hard in their other endeavours.
He also challenged the county legislators to continue maintaining a close relationship with each other and their families.

“The only people still standing with us are friends and family. Let us remember we have those close to us… I want to see everyone happy. For those not coming back, let us not sleep, let us keep working hard,” he said.
