Members of the Uasin Gishu County Assembly have reached an agreement with the County Department of Roads on a new procedure for implementing road repair projects.
While appearing before the Special Committee on Roads, County Executive Committee Member of Roads, Abraham Serem, said the efficiency in the first four wards in the first phase launched by Governor Dr Jonathan Bii is satisfactory despite challenges posed by heavy rains.
Most of the ward representatives have emphasised the importance of adhering to the agreed-upon procedures for implementing road repair projects without any changes.
The CECM was accompanied by Chief Officer Geoffrey Tanui and Director of Roads Engineer Julius Ronoh.

During the session, some MCAs called for the deployment of more machinery to ensure all wards are covered at once.
“You could have added more vehicles to finish all the wards once,” said Kuinet/Kapsuswa MCA Rebbeca Magut.
Meanwhile, the Roads CECM said repair works that had earlier been halted due to heavy rainfall will now resume.
He also defended the decision to prioritise wards within Eldoret City.
“We have asked those contractors to very quickly mobilise over the weekend so that we begin the work on Monday. As a department, we have agreed that the contractors will only be given additional work once they are done with the current allocation,” Serem said.

The County Government of Uasin Gishu has been repairing roads across all the wards in partnership with the National Youth Service (NYS).
