Kenya Technical Trainers College Rebrands To Kenya School of TVET

The Kenya Technical Trainers College (KTTC) will from December 16, 2022, be referred to as the Kenya School of TVET.

KTTC which provides Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) will be changing its name in what institutions Chief Principal Dr Edwin Tarno says is part of a rebrand.

The rebrand that coincides with the college’s 43rd Graduation Ceremony will see it have a redefined and expanded mandate.

While KTTC has been proving training to trainers of TVET institutions, the Kenya School of TVET, Dr Tarno says, will have a mandate for the development and capacity building of Tvet practitioners in the country.

The rebranded institution’s Chief Principal also revealed that the change of name is in line with President William Ruto’s first executive order that reorganised the government.

Ruto issued the executive order on October 14, 2022.

Kttc has been rebranded to Kenya School of Tvet with a redefined and expanded mandate to take of development and capacity building of Tvet practitioners in Kenya . In conformity with legal Order 123 of 2022 and Presidential order 1 of 2022 . Let’s keep Tvet practice contemporary,” Dr Tarno said in a tweet.

Established in 1978, the Kenya Technical Trainers College now Kenya School of TVET had since 2020, started training trainers only and transferred all other students to different colleges around the country.

The institution is located in the Gigiri area of Nairobi, along Limuru Road and next to the United Nations (UN) Office.

However, a controversial proposal by the Government of Kenya would relocate the college to the Kenya Science Campus of the University of Nairobi.

Some of the teacher education programs that KTTC has been offering include a certificate in Instructor Training, a certificate in Management of TVET institution as well as several diploma courses including Technical Teacher Education.

The college has also been offering a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Education Management.
