A peace ambassador in Kitale Town, Trans Nzoia County has come out to publicly appeal to President William Ruto to facilitate him visit Tanzania to spread a message of peace.
The ambassador Reuben Orone said although he wants to travel to Tanzania to do what he passionately likes doing, he does not have bus fare and money for upkeep.
“Mimi naomba ruhusa na msaada kutoka Rais wangu William Samoei Ruto ili niweze kuzuru nchi jirani ya Tanzania ili nichangie katika kuleta amani. Maandamano ambayo tunashuhudia kwa sasa haifai kushuhudiwa (I’m asking for permission and financial support from my President William Samoei Ruto so that I can go to Tanzania and help in restoring peace in the affected areas),” he said.
Why Kitale peace ambassador wants the best for Tanzania
When we asked him why he wants to step into Tanzania at the time when there are protests especially in major cities a day after elections, Orone stated that should Tanzania sink into war, Kenyans will be greatly affected.

“Pasipo amani kule Tanzania, Wakenya tutaadhirika sana na hiyo ndiyo sababu nataka kwenda kuwaelimisha kuhusu muhimu wa amani (without peace in Tanzania, Kenyans will be greatly affected and that is why I want to go there and teach them the importance of peace)” Orone responded.
The sexagenarian urged the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Mama Samia Suluhu Hassan to listen to the people of Tanzania so that they don’t revolt against her and her administration.
“Mama Samia Suluhu, please do not destroy the foundation laid by the founding President of Tanzania, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere. Allow your people to express themselves freely. Being ruthless with the opposition is counterproductive,” Orone advised.
He passionately offered fatherly advice to Tanzania Gen Zs that they should not accept to burn their country.
He expressed his worry that without peace in Tanzania, there is likelihood that people will be displaced from their homes and there will be humanitarian crisis in countries where they will seek asylum.
There has been reports of protests in several parts on Tanzania. The government has reportedly shut down the internet with a 6pm-6am curfew also imposed on bid to contain protesters.
