Residents of Langas Ward have emphasised the need for proper sewer systems, storm water drainage lines, sustainable water and health programs to be prioritised for the ward by the county government of Uasin Gishu.
They outlined their areas of priority during a public participation exercise for the 2025/26 financial year budget held at the Ward office.
Residents who spoke at the event stated that most areas within the ward experience serious challenges during heavy rainfall as a result of storm waters, blockage of drainage systems, lack of clean water and few health facilities despite the estates closeness to Eldoret City CBD.

Led by Moses Mugita, Dedan Mucheru and Jane Njoki, they argued that more funds should be allocated to solve the problems of storm waters and drainages which continue to affect many households.
“Some of the areas where drainage work should be done and water pipes connected include Kisumu Ndogo, Kahuroko, Mwiruti, Yamumbi among others. We also need proper maintenance of street lights,” said Fred Kodimba, one of the residents.
What is the cause of Langas insecurity?
During the forum that was also attended by the area MCA Francis Muya, the residents discussed the challenges of insecurity which they attributed to an increase of street families in the ward.
Samuel Mwangi, a resident, proposed all stakeholders to come up with a better way to help reunite the children with their families.

The public participation for the 2025/2026 financial year’s budget, was led by the county Monitoring and Evaluation Officer Stephen Chumba and Langas Ward Administrator Simon Kogo.
Most residents said development budget should be increased to above Ksh 100 million in the county budget in future.
Other proposals were construction of a youth polytechnic, social hall, purchase land specific for playing ground, an ambulance for the ward and a new market at Cherunya.
