Lilian Siyoi Condemns Disruption of Mary Biketi’s Kitale Event, Calls for Arrest of Masterminds

Trans Nzoia County Woman Member of Parliament Lilian Siyoi has strongly condemned disruption of Mary Biketi’s modeling contest in Kitale.

Goons on Friday April 18, 2025 disrupted the event that was being held at Kitale museum.

Speaking in Kitale town during Easter celebrations, Siyoi described disruption of Biketi’s event as a move that exposed Trans Nzoia county negatively.

She further warned that the disruption was likely to discourage potential investors and people of good will.

I strongly condemn the incident that disrupted an event dedicated to addressing the critical issues facing our youth. Such misbehaviour, as witnessed at the Kitale Museum, paints a negative image that does not reflect the values of Trans Nzoia. We must not and will not tolerate such conduct,” Siyoi stated.

The legislator who has been at loggerheads with Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya also said Biketi’s way of giving back to the community should be supported and not discouraged through primitive acts.

Mary Biketi, like any other woman committed to giving back to society, deserves our full support. When someone stands up with good intentions to share with the community, they should be encouraged, not attacked or undermined,” she added.

Which seat is Mary Biketi eyeing in Trans Nzoia ?

With strong indications that Biketi, popular known for making public her relationship with Cooperative Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Opatahya, is eyeing a political seat in the county in 2027, Siyoi said, like any other Kenyan, she has a right to vie for any elective position.

It is not yet clear which seat Biketi will be vying for. Many argue she would vie for the County Woman MP position.

Meanwhile, Siyoi took a swipe at leaders who hold a believe that certain political seats are reserved for some specific people or ethnic communities.

In addition, the first-term legislator called on all elected leaders in Trans Nzoia to unite all the people of Trans Nzoia.

Trans Nzoia has never been a breeding ground for division or hostility. We are known for our unity and support of good ideas. Let us protect that legacy and continue building a county that leads by example,” Siyoi urged.

She also said that politicians eyeing any elective seat in the 2027 general election should advance issue-based politics instead of pushing personal attacks.

The masterminds and executors of the attack have not been known so far. During the attack, Biketi’s vehicle’s rear screen was smashed, some models assaulted and their mobile phones stolen.

Addressing the press at Kitale police station after recording statement, Biketi said the contest was meant to identify and recruit ambassadors of Mary Biketi Foundation.

She maintained that her event was meant to give back to the society and not political in any way.
