The National Government has delivered sports equipment to support the upcoming Mashujaa Day tournament to be co-hosted by three counties.
The three counties – Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet – will co-host this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations.
Each will stage competitive football and volleyball matches for both men and women, starting from the ward level, progressing to the sub-county, and culminating in inter-county championships.

The inter-county finals will bring together top teams from the three counties and will be held on Mashujaa Day, October 20, at the Kipchoge Stadium in Eldoret.
The tournament is anchored on the theme “Security, Sports and Economy.”
According to organizers, the initiative seeks to leverage sport as a platform to promote cohesion, nurture talent and create economic opportunities for the youth, while complementing the national celebrations.
Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Dr. Eddyson Nyale led national government officials who delivered the equipment.

Uasin Gishu County Executive for Sports Robert Kemei, together with his counterparts from Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet counties, received the assorted equipment which included team uniforms, balls and nets.
“This support will strengthen talent development, youth empowerment, cohesion and economic opportunities through sport,” Kemei said.
He added: “We appreciate the National Government for this partnership and look forward to a successful tournament.”
