Trans Nzoia Leaders Want Murkomen, IG Kanja Held Accountable for Increased Abductions

A section of political leaders in Trans Nzoia county has said that Interior and National Administration Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja should be held accountable for recent cases of abductions.

The leaders, led by Governor George Natembeya, said the nation should uphold the rule of law.

Speaking at a cultural event in Kwanza Constituency, Natembeya warned that the country would drift in the wrong direction if the abductions were not tamed.

Let us stand united against the unlawful abduction of our young men and women. Justice and accountability are non-negotiable,” the governor said.

Meanwhile, Cherang’any Constituency 2022 Member of Parliament candidate, John Njuguna asked Murkomen and Kanja to comply with court order and produce the abducted young Kenyans.

If the law enforcement agencies charged with the responsibility of protecting people and their properties are not aware who is abducting our youths, then who is doing this backward act?” Njuguna asked.

Kenyan youths asked to use social media responsibly

However, the vocal politician urged Kenyan youths to use social media responsibly.

While our Constitution allows Kenyans to express themselves freely, our youths should also realise that this right has limits. You should also be aware of computer misuse and cyber-crime law. Violating this law can land you in problems,” he said.

Other youths led by Philemon Buzeki and Kipchirchir Mutai called on parents to be actively involved in instilling discipline in their children.

We agree that Kenyans have freedom of expression. But it is very irresponsible to paint the office and personality of the President in bad light. Parents have a big responsibility in raising responsible youths,” they stated.
