Tension remains high in Kaptien area of Cherangany Constituency, Trans Nzoia County following a prolonged land tussle.
The tussle that involves two factions on Friday turned ugly after one side stopped a subdivision exercise.
Subdivision of the land was being conducted after a court case involving the 132-acre piece of land concluded recently.
Documents indicate that the land was bought by 18 individuals under the name David Bett and Daniel Kemboi.

The said land was to be subdivided amongst the individuals, each getting six acres.
But on the day of subdivision, a section of kings to one of the would-be beneficiaries allegedly mobilised locals to reject the exercise.
Locals want Ministry of Land Officials involved in subdivision
The move caused tension in the area forcing police officers from Sirende Police Station to intervene.
According to the land chairman who is also the founding member David Bett, the motive to stop the subdivision exercise was ill.
He further called on the government to take action against those involved.
Moreover, the members accused a local administrator in the area of having a hand in the tussle that had denied them their right to settle on their land.

Lawyer to the victims Telca Tum promised to take legal action against those that stopped the subdivision.
She also threatened the surveyor who had been tasked to oversee the subdivision.
However, the faction that stopped the subdivision defended themselves saying they want officials from the Ministry of Land to oversee the process and not a private surveyor.
The has been increased land tussles in Trans Nzoia that usually crop up ahead of the planting season.
In Chepchoina Settlement Scheme phase three, a section of squatters recently also accused some powerful individuals in the area of colluding with land officials to irregularly take land allocated to them by the government.
