Governor Simon Kachapin has flagged off a KSh 75 million consignment of essential medicines, the largest drug delivery received by West Pokot County since the current administration took office.
The Governor said the delivery reflects improved efficiency and a strong working relationship between the County Government and the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).
He also confirmed that the county has cleared all pending bills with KEMSA, including KSh 65 million for quarter two, paving the way for the smooth release of the quarter three supplies being launched.

According to the Health and Sanitation CEC member Claire Parklea, 99.9 per cent of the drugs ordered have been delivered, ensuring health facilities across the county are adequately stocked.
She called on health managers to take responsibility for proper storage, distribution, and use of the medicines, noting that the county will closely monitor supplies to ensure they reach the intended facilities.
How many new dispensaries have been opened in West Pokot?
Governor Kachapin reiterated that healthcare remains a key priority of his administration, citing the establishment of 11 new dispensaries in areas including Tartar, Soka, Kaplelachkoror, Opol, and Chongis.

He also noted ongoing expansion works at Chepareria, Sigor, Kabichbich, and Kacheliba sub-county hospitals.
To strengthen service delivery, the county recently recruited more than 400 healthcare workers. The Governor assured residents that West Pokot now has enough doctors and specialists to meet its healthcare needs and urged the public to have confidence in county health facilities.
He warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found misusing county drugs, emphasising that public resources must be protected and used solely for the benefit of the people.
To ensure accountability, the county will deploy inspection teams to verify that health facilities across West Pokot are adequately stocked and that the drugs are being used as intended.
