West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin.

West Pokot: 16 New Chief Officers Sworn in

West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin, on Friday, December 12, 2025, witnessed the swearing-in of 16 Chief Officers, marking a key milestone as he enters the final two years of his administration.

The officers took their oath of office in a ceremony presided over by Kapenguria Principal Magistrate S.N. Telewa at the County Residence in Kapenguria.

In his remarks, the Governor, who has notably brought many young professionals into leadership, reaffirmed his commitment to nurturing the next generation of public servants.

He also challenged the newly appointed officers to carry out their duties with diligence, professionalism, and humility, reminding them that public service demands integrity above all.

In addition, he urged them to manage public resources responsibly, make decisions anchored in the law, and reject any form of corruption or abuse of office.

Power—absolute power—corrupts. You must not allow yourselves to be corrupted. Redefine public service by staying people-centred at all times,” Kachapin said.

On health matters, the Governor announced plans to establish high-capacity oxygen plants at Kapenguria County Referral Hospital (KCRH) as well as in other parts of the county to improve access to essential healthcare services.

MCAs, led by County Assembly Speaker Fred Kaptui, also addressed the gathering, reminding the officers that the Assembly will remain vigilant in its oversight role and will not tolerate any wrongdoing. Speaker Kaptui urged them to serve with dedication and integrity.

County Public Service Board Chairperson John Martakou echoed these sentiments, reminding the incoming officers that their new roles come with heavy responsibility, not comfort.

The ceremony was also attended by County Commissioner David Saruni, First Lady Scovia Kachapin, CS Jonathan Siwanyang, CECs, and other senior officials and county residents.
