Iten County Referral Hospital to Get Five Additional Dialysis Machines, MRI

Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich has announced ongoing plans to modernise Iten County Referral Hospital (ICRH).

Rotich who on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, visited the hospital to check on levels of service delivery revealed that that the facility will soon receive five new dialysis machines.

We have also in the process of operationalising our call centre, which will effectively improve our ambulance services,” the governor said.

He also announced that in the next four weeks, the county will use the existing space within the facility to open an amenity wing as they prepare to install Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines.

Iten County Referral Hospital is undergoing modernisation.

This transformation moves ICRH from a basic referral hospital towards becoming a more self-sufficient, advanced, and patient-centered facility,” the governor said.

During the visit, Rotich also interacted with heads of various departments at the facility, staff and patients who were at the facility seeking treatment.
