The County Government of Uasin Gishu, through the Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing and Urban Development, held a successful Land Clinic at Ziwa Trading Centre, empowering residents on titling, planning, and land dispute resolution.
The forum focused on succession, titling, land rates, and development control, facilitated by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), funded by the European Union.
Assistant Directors Cyprian Chesire and Charles Kimani took residents through Forward Planning, highlighting its importance in achieving well-organised urban development and sustainable land use.
In addition, Principal Planner Cornelius Kibet sensitised residents on the survey and subdivision process, emphasising the need for proper approvals and adherence to planning standards.
Meanwhile, Senior Planner Eve Mureithi made a detailed presentation on the Alternative Justice System (AJS). She took residents through the importance of AJS, how to constitute an AJS committee, and how communities can benefit through reduced legal costs, strengthened relationships, and enhanced peace.
Senior Planner, Ian Maiyo, further addressed land rates and succession matters, guiding residents on compliance, payment procedures, and the importance of regularising land ownership documents.
Ziwa residents commended the county for promoting community awareness on responsible land management and bringing critical services closer to the people.
The Land Clinic is part of an ongoing county-wide initiative to promote sustainable land governance and ensure residents have access to essential land services within their localities.
