Police officers in Uasin Gishu County have arrested a 30-year-old woman suspected to have killed her husband.

The incident is said to have occurred at Rukuine trading centre in Longway Sub Location, Taraka location of Kesses Sub County on Monday night.

Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Ayub Ali says the suspect, Teresia Njeri stabbed his husband David Ndegwa aged 40 using a kitchen knife after a domestic disagreement.

The disagreement led to a commotion between the two at their residential house.

During the commotion, Njeri stabbed Ndegwa on the left side of the chest with a kitchen knife,” read part of the police report seen by Uasin Gishu News.

The commotion attracted neighbours who immediately rushed to the scene, rendered first aid but did not materialize,” added the report.

Officer Commanding Kondoo Police station visited the scene of crime together with crime support services from Eldoret who documented the scene and took over the murder weapon as an exhibit.

The County Police Commander says the suspect has already been arrested and she is being held at the Kondoo Police Station in Kesses Sub County.

The woman is being held at Kondoo Police Station.

This is even as the body of the deceased was moved to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary in Eldoret, awaiting postmortem.

Counselling

But even as the probe into the incident continues, Ali has expressed concerns over rising cases of murder involving young couples in the county.

He says had the couple sought counselling, the death of the 40-year-old husband would have been prevented.

It is sad because this looks like a young family and had they looked for counselling to address their issues, we will not be talking about murder today,” noted the County Police boss.

Domestic disagreements have been on the rise and we advise that instead of resorting to killing each other, families should not for the other options to resolve their differences,” he added.

Already, she is facing a murder charge at an Eldoret court.
