In yet another significant success, the multi-agency security team conducting ‘Operation Maliza Uhalifu North Rift’ recovered 15 camels and 4 illegal firearms.
One G-3 rifle was recovered at Amoler Location in Pokot Central Sub- County, while three other rifles which included an AK-47, M-16 and a Carabine MK-1 were recovered at Latakweny Village in Samburu North Sub-County.
Meanwhile, the security team recovered 15 camels after subduing bandits who had stolen the animals at Sulubei Grazing Fields.

The animals were positively identified and handed over to the owners.
“We laud the local communities for their support, and continue to appeal to any person in possession of an illegal firearm to immediately surrender the same to security agencies,” said the National Police Service (NPS).
Latest recovery came barely a day after Deputy Army Commander Maj Gen William Shume visited the North Rift where he had a meeting with the multi-agency team (MAT) involved in the ongoing Operation.
The Commander was received at Chemolingot Operation Centre by ASOB Commander Brigadier A.M Saman, Commanding Officer – SOG Mr. Gilbert Masengeli, AIG, and Deputy-SOOPS Rapid Deployment Unit Peter Masai on March 28, 2923,before he proceeded to meet the MAT based at Chesitet, Baragoi, and Ngoisusu Camps.

Maj Gen Shume lauded the synergy and commitment exhibited by the team, urging them to stay focused on eradicating the banditry, and restoring normalcy in the the ‘Disturbed’ and ‘Dangerous’ areas.
On his part, Mr. Gilbert Masengeli, AIG highlighted key milestones achieved so far.
The government launched the operation about two months ago which was aimed at addressing Insecurity in the Northern parts of Kenya.
