Police officers in Eldoret are holding at least 70 people who were arrested in connection of violent incidences which were witnessed in the city during the Gen Z-led protests.
Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi said those arrested were found engaging in criminal activities.
In a media briefing in Eldoret, Mwanthi said among those in their custody are those suspected to have been involved in setting on fire a police vehicle in Huruma area.

Others were found looking the Khetias Supermarket, Roadblock branch which is on the outskirts of Eldoret town.

The police boss further said one person died during the protests.
He however said the person was not killed by the police but a mob who descended on him at Eastleigh area on suspicion of having stolen from the protesters.
“He died while receiving treatment at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital,” Mwanthi said.
The county police commander further noted that one MTRH ambulance was also stoned by protesters.
Youths in Eldoret joined the rest of the country in protests that turned chaotic, with the police forced to use teargas canisters to disperse them.
