More than 1,200 households in West Pokot County are set to benefit after First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto handed over three bulk milk coolers, Hass avocado seedlings, and water tanks to local groups on Thursday, June 24, 2026.
The milk coolers were distributed to Murkwijit, Lelan, and Saramee Farmers’ Cooperative Societies to improve milk storage and help farmers access better markets.
The Hass avocado seedlings are intended to boost household nutrition and create new income sources for families in the region.

In addition, water tanks were donated to 17 schools across the area to expand access to safe water and improve the learning environment for students.
The donations were made during a gathering in Kabichbich where hundreds of women celebrated their role in enterprise, agriculture, and savings groups.
At the event, Mama Rachel said the empowerment of women is “something very close to my heart” because when a woman is empowered, her family, community, and nation are empowered too.

She encouraged every woman to believe in her potential and continue pursuing opportunities that uplift her family and community, noting that through enterprise and agriculture, women continue to transform lives and create opportunities where none existed before.
