Affordable Housing Projects in Eldoret and Their Current Status (Photos)

The national government is currently implementing three Affordable Housing Projects in Eldoret City.

Works on each of the projects are currently at different levels.

Uasin Gishu News takes a look at the current status of each of the three Affordable Housing Projects in Eldoret.

AMS Kimumu Affordable Housing Project

Located within Kimumu estate, near the University of Eldoret’s main campus in Chepkoilel, the affordable housing at AMS Kimumu consist 226 units.

Construction works are still ongoing.

The project is far away to being completed, compares to others within Eldoret.

Pioneer Affordable Housing Project

The Pioneer Affordable Housing Project (AHP) commenced in January 2024 as part of the ongoing AHP Phase 2 implemented across the country,.

It is fast taking shape, delivering a timely investment for a rapidly growing city experiencing a steady influx of population.

The development features 15 residential blocks totaling 2,148 housing units across social, affordable and market segments, alongside 104 commercial shops and shared amenities such as a clubhouse, community centre, kindergarten, swimming pool, play areas, basketball court, clinic and supermarket.

Significant progress has been made on-site: blocks B1, C1, C2, B2, C3, B3 and A1 are structurally complete, with finishing works ongoing, while the majority of the remaining blocks have reached the 14th floor with walling in progress. Window installation has also begun in Block B1 up to the 5th floor.

With over 800 workers directly employed and many more engaged through ancillary services, the project is bridging the housing gap while also stimulating livelihoods and empowering the local community.

Kapsuswa Affordable Housing Project

Meanwhile, final touches are underway at the Kapsuswa Affordable Housing Project in Soy Constituency.

Works such as painting, installation of door locks and laying of cabro blocks are ongoing as the project nears completion.

The development comprises 220 units across 9 residential blocks; 60 studios, 40 one-bedrooms, 100 two-bedrooms aas well as 20 three-bedrooms, providing diverse housing options.

Strategically located in Eldoret City, the project is set to ease housing demand while opening new opportunities in real estate, retail and services, with a ripple effect on jobs and infrastructure growth.
