AK said Kenya is preparing to field a strong and competitive team for the championships.

‎“Athletics Kenya wishes to inform athletes and all stakeholders within the athletics fraternity that the national trials for the event will now be held from May 21–23, 2026 at Nyayo National Stadium,” read part of the statement from AK.

‎“The trials had initially been scheduled for June 26–27, 2026 at the same venue,” the statement added.

‎The early trials signal a deliberate move by AK to get ahead of the curve, offering athletes ample time to fine-tune their form, sharpen race tactics and complete key logistical requirements ahead of the championships.

‎“This change has been made to allow adequate time for the completion of administrative processes and other requirements for the selected team,” the federation explained.

‎With the clock now ticking faster, AK has called on aspiring juniors and stakeholders to recalibrate their build-up and hit peak condition in time for the rescheduled showdown.

‎“We urge all prospective participants to take note of this change and adjust their preparations accordingly,” it said.

‎Further details, including the list of invited athletes and the selection criteria for Team Kenya, will be communicated in due course as the federation finalises its blueprint for Eugene.
