Beverlyne Ndombi: Moi University Student Shines at Huawei ICT Competition

A Moi University student is among those who scooped top awards at the recently concluded Huawei ICT Competition.

Beverlyne Ndombi, a 5th-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering at the School of Engineering, was awarded Most Excellent Student in the 2024–2025 Southern Africa Regional Finals.

Beverlyne shared her inspiring journey that started at a Moi University event where she first learned about the Huawei ICT Competition.

Ifrah A. Hussein participated in the Huawei ICT competition with Beverlyne Ndombi.

Her passion for technology and dedication to excellence led her to earn the HCIA-AI certification through the Safaricom Women in Technology (WIT) program as well as the Huawei AI Bootcamp.

As team leader, Beverlyne played a pivotal role in guiding her team to the Cloud Track Regional Finals.

Together with her colleague Ms. Ifrah A. Hussein, both representing Moi University, they proudly flew Kenya’s flag at the Huawei ICT Competition Regional Award Ceremony held in South Africa—a prestigious event celebrating top-performing students from eitghteen (18) Southern African countries,” the Uasin Gishu-based university said.

At the Huawei ICT Competition, Beverlyne was recognized for her exceptional leadership and remarkable contributions to her team’s success, marking a proud and memorable achievement.

Moi University wins inaugural National Tax Law Moot Court Competition

Earlier this month, Moi University School of Law also triumphed at the inaugural National Tax Law Moot Court Competition (March 28-29, 2025).

The competition was hosted by the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology(JKUAT) School of Law-Karen.

Represented by Jonathan Ndolo and Joseph Aduke, the Moi University team defeated the University of Embu (quarters) and JKUAT (semis), then clinched victory over the University of Nairobi in the finals.

Ndolo also earned Best Oralist.

The team was coached by Rickcard Bett and Julie Khamsa, who are also Moi University School of Law alumni.
