TSC Announces 20,000 Post Primary Teaching Vacancies for Junior Schools

The Teachers Service Commission has announced 20,000 vacancies for Post Primary teachers on Permanent and Pensionable terms to teach in Junior Schools across the country.

In an advertisement seen by Uasin Gishu News, TSC said the recruitment targets qualified teachers to support the implementation of the Competency Based Education curriculum in Junior Schools for the 2026/2027 financial year.

The Teachers Service Commission invites applications from qualified candidates to fill 20,000 Post Primary teachers posts in Junior Schools to support the implementation of Competency Based Education,” the commission stated.

How to Apply for TSC junior school jobs

Interested and qualified candidates have been directed to submit applications online through the Commission’s website www.tsc.go.ke under “Careers” or via teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.

The application portal was opened on Tuesday, 18th August 2026 and will close on Monday, 31st August, 2026 at midnight. TSC warned that manual applications will not be considered.

Qualifications for TSC junior school teachers

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be Kenyan citizens
  • Hold at least a diploma in education* with a minimum mean grade of C+ (plus) and C+ (plus) in two teaching subjects in KCSE or its equivalent
  • Be registered teachers with the Teachers Service Commission

Other requirements include being unemployed and having no record of exiting the teaching service due to disciplinary grounds. Successful candidates must be willing to teach various learning areas under the Junior School Curriculum.

How does TSC select and deploy teachers?

TSC said selection will be strictly on merit and based on the number of vacancies per county. Successful teachers will be retained in their current sub-counties/stations and will be required to present original academic and professional certificates during recruitment.

The Commission noted that details on available vacancies per county and sub-county are on its website www.tsc.go.ke

Additionally, TSC cautioned applicants against fraudsters, stating that the recruitment exercise is free of charge.

The Teachers Service Commission forewarns applicants against fraudsters who might extort money from unsuspecting persons purporting to assist in recruitment,” it said.

Any fraudulent activity should be reported to the nearest TSC office, police station, or through Director Staffing on 0202892193 and direstaffing@tsc.go.ke.

The Commission added that it is an equal opportunity employer and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
