Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim on Wednesday, July 5, 2033, hosted industrialist Narendra Raval at the county headquarters in Eldoret town.
Raval is the chairman of the Devki Group of Companies.
During the meeting, the two discussed a number of issues among them the ongoing construction of the Simba Cement factory in Turbo Sub-County.
Simba Cement is owned by Devki Group’s National Cement Company (NCC).
In an update on his verified Facebook page, the Uasin Gishu County boss said the factory, once complete will create at least 1,500 direct jobs.

He also pointed out that the factory will play a key role in the overall North Rift regional growth.
“This afternoon, i had a discussion with Narendra Raval, an industrialist and chairman of Devki Group of Companies, regarding the ongoing construction of Simba Cement plant being established in Jua Kali area, Turbo Constituency,” Bii said in part of the post.
Regional growth
“The factory is set to create more than 1500 direct job opportunities for our residents. Similarly, this investment will pave the way for our overall regional growth,” he added.
The Simba Cement plant will be sitting on approximately 22 acres piece of land within the Cheramei area.
Construction works have been ongoing for several months now.
Devki Group has invested at least Ksh6.7 billion in the project.

Eldoret, and by extension, Uasin Gishu County, is considered a key hub for the North Rift region in not only education and health but also business and industrialization.
With the town set to be elevated into the fifth city, Governor Bii is optimistic the county will continue to play its role as the gateway to the region.
“Our county is strategically positioned to become an industrial hub, emphasizing key selling points for investors such as available land, water, power access, and a skilled workforce,” the county boss said.
