The agricultural success of Marigat, coupled with its strategic position at the intersection of major transit routes, has driven an unprecedented population boom.
As the commercial capital of Baringo South, the town has faced growing housing pressure among agricultural workers, traders and government officials.
The construction of the Boma Yangu Marigat Estate responds to this demand by expanding access to quality, affordable housing while supporting the town’s transition into a more structured urban centre.
Launched by President William Ruto, who laid the foundation stone in October 2025, the development is taking shape just off the Nakuru–Sigor Highway.
Construction of the four residential blocks; two Block A and two Block B, has advanced through the structural frame and is progressing into upper-floor and finishing works, with each block rising nine floors (G+9).
The master-planned estate will include an on-site kindergarten, clubhouse with a swimming pool, community social hall and eight commercial stalls to support local enterprise.
Paved walkways, children’s play areas, landscaped open spaces, secure parking, a perimeter fence, central power house and designated waste facilities will complete the development.
“Through the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration, the Government continues to recognise affordable housing as an important component of safer, more cohesive and well-planned communities,” said Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo.
