President Ruto Heads to Moscow for Russia-Africa Forum to Seek Export Markets, Investment

President William Ruto is set to travel to Moscow, Russia, to participate in the Third Russia-Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, where he is expected to advance Kenya’s economic and strategic interests.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said the President’s engagements will focus on expanding export markets and attracting investments.

According to the statement, the Head of State will seek greater market access for Kenyan produce as the AU champion on the African Continental Free Trade Area.

“As the AU champion on the African Continental Free Trade Area, the President will seek greater market access for African tea, coffee, cut flowers, fresh produce and value-added products, while pursuing investment in agro-processing, manufacturing, energy and infrastructure,” the statement reads in part.

President Ruto will also explore new partnerships in emerging technologies.

“He will also explore partnerships in artificial intelligence, digital innovation and technology transfer to equip young people with emerging skills, support businesses and strengthen Kenya’s digital economy,” State House said.

The statement added that “the engagements will further focus on securing affordable agricultural inputs and strengthening food security.”

Ruto’s agenda at Russia-Africa Forum

At the Africa-Russia Business Roundtable, President Ruto is expected to market Kenya as an investment hub.

“At the Africa-Russia Business Roundtable, President Ruto will position Kenya as a competitive investment destination and gateway to African markets, promoting joint ventures and commercial partnerships that strengthen local industries, create employment and increase the value of Kenyan exports,” the statement said.

On security and governance, the Forum will also address global issues.

During the forum, Africa will further engage Russia on efforts to address global peace, regional security challenges, promote peaceful resolution of conflicts and strengthen regional stability.

Additionally, the Forum will focus on Africa’s priorities, including reforms to global governance, stronger representation in international decision-making and equitable partnerships founded on mutual respect and sovereign equality.

“The African group will also advocate cooperation that advances Africa’s industrialisation, economic transformation and shared prosperity.”

State House said on the sidelines of the Forum, President Ruto will hold bilateral meetings with Heads of State and Government, international organisations, financial institutions and major corporations “to mobilise investment, unlock new markets and secure partnerships that support Kenya’s economic transformation.”
