Saboti Constituency Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has called on the Ministry of National Treasury and Economic Planning to expedite the release of school capitation funds.

Speaking during the commissioning of 12 two-storeyed block classrooms at Matisi Comprehensive School on Monday, January 20, 2025, Amisi said delayed disbursement of the funds affects learning in public schools.

The vocal lawmaker further faulted the government for subjecting school heads to untold suffering through deliberate delays.

The government should stop making promises and do the needful. That is releasing capitation money to all our public schools. Delaying these monies is denying our children the right to education,” Amisi said.

Caleb Amisi faults High Court over NG-CDF ruling

Meanwhile, the second-term legislator said the High Court erred when it declared that the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF), unconstitutional in September 2024 and that it should cease operations by 30 June 2026.

NG-CDF has transformed several lives. Many Kenyans have gone to school courtesy of NG-CDF bursary and it would be very unfair to declare it unconstitutional. We will not accept that,” he stated.

The ODM legislator further vowed to continue putting President William Ruto’s administration in check.

Some people are not happy that I am holding Ruto’s illegitimate administration accountable. I want to tell them that the formation of the broad-based government between Ruto and Raila Odinga is not a leeway for mediocrity and violation of human rights,” added the MP.

Wajackhoya condemns rising abductions

Amisi was in the company of the Roots Party Leader and 2022 Presidential candidate Prof. George Wajackoya who condemned the rise in abductions and enforced disappearances.

Our 2010 Constitution guarantees every Kenyan the freedom of expression. Abductions, killings and enforced disappearances are against our Constitution,” Wajackhoya said.

He called on Kenyans to stand against the government’s excessive use of force and rights violations.
