County, UNICEF Officials Discuss Harmonized Approach to Cash Transfers

The Uasin Gishu County Department of Health Services on Monday hosted officials from United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to discuss a harmonized approach to cash transfers (HACT) by implementing partners.

The meeting primarily aimed at understanding and establishing a standardized, equitable way for cash transfers to be carried out across the county.

Officials discussed how the county could utilize UNICEF’s financial support to ensure that this harmonized approach is implemented and that any potential risks are mitigated therefore ensuring the successful implementation of the harmonized approach to cash transfers.

Speaking during the meeting at the County Commissioner’s boardroom, Chief Officer for Promotive and Preventive Health Dr Joyce Sang noted that the visit aims at verifying the activities that were implemented and results achieved as planned.

As the implementing partner the visit will provide feedback to us therefore assisting us in troubleshooting any issues that might require county partner input and support,” said Dr Sang.

She also noted that this will highlight the benefits of micro-planning exercises in reaching the unreached calling for the need to enhance outreaches.

Programmatic visits

Further, Clinical Services Chief Officer, Dr Paul Wangwe, said that the programmatic monitoring visit will also look into the progress towards integrating Covid-19 into routine, Covid-19 vaccine supply chain challenges encountered and possible solutions.

In line with the UNICEF procedure on harmonized Approach to cash transfers, we will be able to review HACT performance by the feedback and also discuss challenges and proposed solutions,” said Dr Wangwe.

On her part, UNICEF official Susan Govedi said that UNICEF procedure on Harmonized Approach to cash transfers (HACT) to implementation partners requires that programmatic visits are undertaken on all implementing partners to provide feedback and possible challenges to be addressed.
