In commemoration of World Bee Day, the County Government of Nandi through the Department of Lands, Physical Planning, Housing, Water, Environment and Natural Resources, has handed over 10 beehives to Chemori CBO from Kemeloi Maraba Ward as part of efforts to promote environmental conservation and improve community livelihoods through beekeeping.
The handover was led by the County Executive Committee Member, Hillary Serem, alongside the Chief Officer, Jonah Biwott.
The beneficiary group was represented by its Chairman, Patrice Chumba, and Johanah Keter.
Speaking during the event, the county officials emphasized the important role bees play in agriculture and environmental sustainability.

Bees are among the most important pollinators, contributing greatly to food production, protection of ecosystems, and the preservation of biodiversity.
The initiative is expected to empower the group economically through honey production, packaging, and local marketing.
By embracing value addition and organized marketing, the project will not only create an additional source of income for members but also strengthen household livelihoods and community economic growth.
The county government continues to encourage sustainable environmental practices that create both ecological and economic benefits for local communities.
