Crime Scene Investigators Trained to Curb Terrorism

Twenty-four (24) crime scene investigators drawn from the Bomb Disposal Unit and CSI services on Monday commenced a two-week training on investigating terrorist crime scenes.

The training which is sponsored by the US Embassy in Kenya through the Anti-Terrorism Assistance program aims to empower the forensic team with requisite skills necessary for processing terrorist crime scenes using modern-day technology.

Officiating the course opening at the National Criminal Investigations Academy, the Director, Investigations Bureau Abdallah Komesha called upon the forensic team to buckle down for the high level intensive training, noting that the US government had dispatched highly skilled facilitators to train them.

Senior Sergeant Course Opening at NCIA

Earlier, the Director DCI Mohamed I. Amin called upon the participants undertaking a Senior Sergeant Course at the National Criminal Investigations Academy (NCIA) to embrace the values of personal integrity, honesty, hard work and discipline.

In his remarks delivered by the Director Investigations Bureau Abdallah Komesha, Amin emphasized the need for law enforcers to respect human rights and fundamental freedoms and dignity.

The DCI Chief made this remarks during the opening occasion of the training for police sergeants aspiring for Senior Sergeant positions.

Thanking the Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome for approving the promotion and training of the officers at the Academy, Amin echoed the provisions of the constitution that required the NPS to train its staff to the highest possible standards of competence and integrity.
