DCI, Registrar of Societies on the Spot over Eldoret Muslim Association Forgery Case

A Muslim leader in Uasin Gishu county has raised concerns over the manner in which the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is handling a case in which he has accused the current leadership of the Eldoret Muslim Association of forgery.

Jamal Dirowo Omari argues that the DCI had taken a long time to conclude the matter, putting billions of Eldoret Muslim’s assets at risk.

In a letter to the Director of Criminal Investigations, Amin Mohammed, the Muslim leader is demanding the hastening of a probe into the matter.

Why Eldoret Muslim leader has put Registrar of Societies on the spot?

He lamented that despite the Eldoret West DCI office requesting information on the status of the Eldoret Muslim Association registration and its officials from the Registrar of Societies, no response has been received.

The request was made via a letter dated May 15, 2025.

The same request has never been responded to date, and the constitutional time limits have since elapsed. The hopes of the Muslim community for justice have been delayed,” Omari said in a letter to the DCI boss.

Delayed justice is denial of justice,” he added.

The Eldoret Muslim leader is demanding that further action be taken against the Registrar of Societies over their failure to respond to the DCI.

Who investigates forgery cases in Kenya?

He also wants a clear directive from the DCI over the matter so that it can be put to rest as soon as possible for the benefit of all the Muslim leaders in Eldoret.

We request your offices to refer us to any other relevant institution or office in writing with full attached documents of 216 pages of our evidence filed in your office so that we can proceed and prosecute this matter due to the AGENCY to the Muslim community in Eldoret,” Omari said.

Lastly but not least, we request for immediate complaint to the D.C.I INVESTIGATIONS at the Registrar Of Societies and the office of the Attorney General’s State Counsel and prosecute the matter before the High Court of Kenya,” he added.

Jamal Diriwo Omari has, for several years now, been pursuing justice for the Eldoret Muslim community over management of its assets.

He believes a few individuals had ganged up and taken over management of the community’s assets, whose worth runs into billions of shillings.

Despite numerous letters from several government agencies, including the Commission on Administrative Justice, over details regarding registration of the Muslim Association, Eldoret, the Registrar of Societies has failed to provide information that could help settle the matter.

The DCI Eldoret office had already recorded statements from some of the Eldoret Muslim Association officials who had been accused of forging a registration certificate.
