Police officers in Uasin Gishu have launched investigations into an incident where a boda boda rider is alleged to have killed his girlfriend, who was a Form Two student.
Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi told journalists that the suspect, a 24-year-old man, committed the heinous act on the night of Thursday, March 6, 2025, in the Tembelio area.
According to Mwanthi, the man had taken the girl to spend a night with him before later killing her.

The police boss said that after killing the girl, the man called the area chief, informing them about the incident before surrendering to the nearby police station.
“The girl was a Form Two student at Tembelio Mixed Secondary School,” Mwanthi said on Friday, March 7, 2025.
“According to the reports that we have, the rider picked the girl on Thursday and spent a night together at an area called Jem farm before he killed her,” he added.

After getting the report about the murder incident, police went to the place the man had said the body of the girl was where they found her covered in a blanket.
The man has since been arrested as investigations into the circumstances that led to the death continue. While the motive of the murder remains the subject of police investigations, it is suspected to be related to a love-gone sour issue.
Meanwhile, the police boss has advised parents of children who are students in day school to always ensure they know the whereabouts of their children.
“Parents should ensure they follow up on their children and know their whereabouts after school so that we don’t get such incidences,” the police commander said.
