The highly anticipated 2nd edition of the Eldoret Cycle 100 was officially launched on Wednesday during a breakfast meeting at the esteemed Eka Hotel Eldoret.
The event, scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 28, 2023, promises to be an exhilarating day of cycling as participants compete in three categories: 100km, 50km, and 25km.
The picturesque route will span the breathtaking Kaptagat Ecosystem, captivating riders and spectators alike.

Beyond the thrill of the race, the Eldoret Cycle 100 serves a greater purpose by contributing to the rehabilitation of the invaluable Kaptagat Forest, a vital water tower in the North Rift Region.
Part of the proceeds generated from this prestigious competition will be dedicated to preserving and restoring the forest, ensuring its sustainability for generations to come.

Keino Sports Events, the organizers behind this remarkable initiative, have successfully garnered support from several esteemed sponsors among them the County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet and the Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS).
Other notable sponsors for the Eldoret Cycle 100 are EKA Hotel Eldoret, Telkom Kenya, Greenwoods Resort and Campsite Eldoret, Rapha Hospital Eldoret, Nexus Marketing Agency Eldoret, as well as Kaptagat Springs.

The competition’s first edition was held in May 2022.
Over 100 riders participated in the inaugural race that covered Uasin Gishu and Elgeyo Marakwet counties.
It started at Ilula in Uasin Gishu County, through Talget, Kipchawat, Kaptarakwa and Nyaru in Elgeyo Marakwet County, then to Kaptagat and back to Ilula for the finish.
“As we have seen today we have a lot of talent and we need to support more people in this sport and we shall have many participating in the international events,” event Organiser Martin Keino had told journalists after a successful inaugural event.
Cycling has quickly been gaining traction in the North Rift region known for being home to international athletes.
Renowned athletes coach Gabrielle Rosa has since expressed interest in setting up a cycling training camp within the region.
