Eldoret Hotels to Be Inspected On Disaster Response Preparedness

Uasin Gishu Fire and Disaster Management Department has announced plans to inspect all major hotels in Eldoret town on their preparedness to respond to emergencies and disasters.

According to County Chief Fire Officer David Wanyama Sitati, the inspection is part of the preparations for the upcoming Devolution Conference in Eldoret town.

The conference is scheduled for August this year.

It is expected that at least 12,000 people will be participating in the event whose main venue will be the Eldoret Sports Club.

We are looking at the safety of places where the visitors will be sleeping and in this case, it is the hotels within Eldoret town,” Sitati said.

Our plan is to go round and ensure their safety is guaranteed. We don’t want to witness a scenario where a hotel hosts visitors who end up getting hurt for lack of proper safety measures,” he added.
