Eldowas Pledges to Review Water Rationing Schedule for Huruma Estate

Residents of Huruma Estate on the outskirts of Eldoret city will soon have access to clean water for a longer period.

The estate is among those that have been affected with the current water rationing schedule by the Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (Eldowas).

Locals in the estate, led by area Member of County Assembly (MCA) Kimani Wanjohi presented their grievances to the Eldowas management during a meeting held on Tuesday, May 27, 2028.

They named Shauri as among the areas which face inadequate water supply alongside schools.

Other issues that locals raised include persistent sewer blockages and the strain on current infrastructure due to Huruma’s increasing population were highlighted.

The community also emphasized the need for faster response times to water pipe bursts and proactive maintenance of manholes.

How Eldowas plans to address Huruma water rationing issue

In response, the Eldowas Managing Director and heads of the Technical and Commercial Departments, committed to reviewing and optimizing water rationing schedules to ensure more equitable distribution across Huruma.

Eldowas plans to deploy dedicated teams to ensure quicker responses to sewer blockages and pipe bursts, alongside implementing proactive manhole inspection and repair programs to prevent overflows,” the company said.

It also expressed gratitude for the active participation of the Huruma community representatives and their valuable feedback.

In addition, it emphasised a commitment to continued collaboration to improve service delivery and enhance the quality of life for residents.
