Elgeyo Marakwet Announces Additional 38 ECDE Caregiver Vacancies

/

The County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet has announced 38 vacancies for Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) caregivers on three-year contracts as part of efforts to strengthen learning in public ECDE centres across the county.

In an advertisement issued by the County Public Service Board, qualified Kenyan citizens have been invited to apply for the positions, which offer a consolidated monthly salary of KSh 18,000.

The vacancies are spread across the county’s four sub-counties, including Keiyo North, Keiyo South, Marakwet West and Marakwet East, with successful applicants expected to serve in centres where positions have fallen vacant due to natural attrition.

Applicants must possess a minimum KCSE grade of D+, a certificate in ECDE from KNEC, the Ministry of Education or another recognised institution, and must be registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

A certificate in computer applications and a valid First Aid certificate are also mandatory, while a diploma qualification in ECDE will be an added advantage.

According to the advertisement, successful candidates will be responsible for classroom teaching, mentoring and counselling learners, ensuring their safety and welfare, preparing lesson plans and records, developing learning materials, facilitating play-based learning activities and engaging parents and communities on ECDE programmes.

The caregivers will also be expected to support the holistic development of children, including their social, mental, physical and emotional growth.

Applications are to be submitted online through the county recruitment portal (https://recruitment.elgeyomarakwet.go.ke) by October 14, 2026. The County Public Service Board noted that only online applications will be considered and warned that submission of false or forged documents constitutes a criminal offence. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Last month, the county had also advertised 180 vacancies across multiple departments.
