The County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet has launched a major recruitment drive, advertising more than 180 vacancies across multiple departments as it seeks to strengthen service delivery and fill positions left vacant through natural attrition.
A notice published by the County Public Service Board invites qualified, results-oriented and self-motivated Kenyan citizens to apply for positions in departments including Roads, Public Works and Transport; Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives; Education and Technical Training; Health Services; Lands and Physical Planning; Public Service Administration; Finance and Economic Planning; Sports and Social Services; Water, Environment and Climate Change; and the Office of the Governor.
The advertised positions range from professional and technical roles to support staff positions, including medical officers, veterinary officers, accountants, economists, engineers, ICT officers, human resource officers, records management officers, legal officers and youth polytechnic instructors.
All advertised positions are on three-year contract terms, with the exception of the Chief Officer for Sports, Tourism and Social Services, whose tenure will be tied to the term of the Governor.
Elgeyo Marakwet County vacancies
The Department of Health Services accounts for a significant share of the vacancies, with openings for five medical officers, 11 enrolled nurses, four registered clinical officers (anaesthetists), two registered nurses, two radiographers, and several public health and nutrition professionals.
The Department of Education and Technical Training is also seeking instructors for youth polytechnics in various trades, including clothing technology, building and construction, hairdressing and beauty therapy, plumbing, carpentry and joinery, agribusiness, motor vehicle technology, food processing, refrigeration and air conditioning, and solar photovoltaic system installation.
Among the largest recruitment allocations are 20 positions for Youth Development Officer II under the Department of Sports, Tourism and Social Services and 20 Artisan III (Plumbing) positions under the Department of Water, Environment and Climate Change.
“The County Public Service Board invites applications from qualified, results-oriented and self-motivated Kenyan citizens for appointments to the following positions which have fallen vacant due to natural attrition,” the board said in the notice.
The board stressed that all applications must be submitted online and warned against submission of forged documents.
“Only online applications will be accepted,” the notice states.
The board further noted that “only shortlisted candidates will be contacted” and reminded applicants that it is a criminal offence to submit fake or forged papers during the recruitment process.
The recruitment exercise is expected to boost staffing levels in critical sectors such as healthcare, technical education, infrastructure development, environmental management, agriculture and youth empowerment.
