Families displaced following the deadly Chesongoch landslide tragedy are set to get new places they will call home.
The government has announced that it will start construction of the houses for families affected by the landslide next week.
Funds had already been collected from various stakeholders including professionals, political leaders and other well-wishers.

The county government of Elgeyo Marakwet will construct the houses in collaboration with the national government.
More than 30 people died following the landslide that also left tens of families homeless.
Those affected were from Kibendo, Emsoo Ward, Chesongoch (Endo Ward), as well as Embobut/Embolot Ward.
Meanwhile, the Lions Clubs International Foundation on Thursday, December 18, 2025, visited the affected areas to distribute foodstuffs and bedding to displaced families.

The delegation, led by District Governor 411A, Amb. Simon Njoroge, had earlier paid a courtesy call to the Iten Lions Club President, Deputy Governor Prof. Grace Cheserek.
The team also visited victims in Kapsowar Ward following strong winds that displaced eight families and tragically claimed the life of one woman.
Prof. Cheserek was accompanied by Elgeyo Marakwet County Executive Committee (CEC) member for Road, Eng. Emmy Kosgei, and Chief Officers Lorna Kipsang, Edwin Komen, and Lawrence Mutwol.
The County Government noted that it appreciates the continued support of partners and stakeholders in responding to emergencies and supporting affected communities.
