The Principal Secretary for Industry Dr. Juma Mukhwana has toured Elgeyo Marakwet to follow up on the construction of the county’s aggregation and industrial park.
PS Mukhwana in company of Governor Wisley Rotich conducted a site visit to the 100-acre piece of land in Kapchemutwa Ward where the industrial park is expected to be established.
According to the PS, the commencement of the construction of the industrial park will start with eight factories.

Governor Rotich said the construction works were slowed down by land acquisition issues, which have since been sorted by the National Land Commission.
“This will transform our county into an agro-processing and manufacturing hub besides creating employment for our people,” the Governor said.
Already, there are potential aggregators in avocado, mango, coffee, potato and dairy value chains that have shown interest in establishing manufacturing sheds and cold storage facilities at the park.

The National Government and counties have teamed up for the industrial park project
Under the partnership, both the national government and counties allocate Ksh 250 million each to facilitate the project.
